We can
breath new life into worn out pews for significantly less cost than replacing them with brand new pews. By simply replacing the foam, changing the fabric, repairing or replacing broken parts, and touching up and/or refinishing the wood, your pews will be almost like new again! We can also reupholster and refinish other used or existing furniture as well- from your chairs, theater seating, or pulpit furniture.
When it comes to fabric selections, we offer a wide, updated variety. We have over 1,000 beautiful fabrics to choose from. With so many fabric options to chose from, we are happy to offer our design experience to assist you in turning your sanctuary into a beautiful church home.
Reupholstering pews can be done two different ways- your pews can be relocated to our shop or we can also set up to perform the work on site if needed. We use a hydraulic air press and take the pew apart to upholster it, similar to the way the factory originally did. The hydraulic air press is used to compress the pew's foam in order to maximize the tightness of the new fabric. Most times when we are reupholstering pews, more foam is added, but adding or replacing foam depends on how old the pew is. Sometimes with older pews parts come unglued, screws can come loose and the seats become unstable. We use all new special order screws when we reassemble the pews to ensure stability. Often times other repair work is also needed, such as new anchors, fix legs, or tighten ends, so any needed repairs can be made during the reupholstery process.
To refinish solid wood pews or other wooden pulpit furniture, the wood is stripped down bare, sanded smooth, sealed and the stain or the paint of your choosing is hand applied. Lastly, we apply a lacquer finish for added durability and a beautiful appearance. For standard wood finishes, any stain can be used or we can also create a custom stain for you. We do recommend using the brands Minwax, Varathane or Sherwin Williams as a guide. Often times we work closely with our customers to match or compliment stain or paint colors that are already in the space. If you currently have solid wood pews but would like upholstered pews, we can transform your pews into a partially or fully upholstered body.
If you think your pews need to be replaced, but are interested in potentially transforming your existing pews call us first. Maybe some new fabric, foam, a few repairs and refinished parts, and your pews will be almost like new again for a lot less cost!
